Pep Berry Rob Nectar - Immune System
Booster
by Lynn A. Anderson, Ph.D., N.D.
I had found the formula for Dami-anas Nectar, the elixir of love. Why couldnt I find a formula that would strengthen the nervous and immune systems? An all-natural formula that would help the body, the mind, and the soul cope with stress? (Can this elixir really help the soul with stress? May want to delete.)
I called my mystical healer and asked if I could visit her one last time.. Once more I drove through the orange grove and was again escorted into her house, but this time taken into the pantry where she handed me a jar of dried elderberries. What you need is a rob, and I have just the formula for you. It begins with elderberries.
I flashed back to my childhood, recalling my grandmother using elderberries to make a soothing drink for colds and the flu. My mother and grandmother would pick the berries from the elder trees that grew on the island I grew up on and make delicious elderberry jelly for the cold winter months ahead. Crocks would be put up in the root cellar and made into a special recipe that would yield elderberry wine. This wintertime cordial of elderberry wine and sugar is an excellent cold remedy.
The elder has been used for its many virtues from the earliest days. It has been termed the medicine chest of the country people. There are numerous accounts of its many uses to cure the ills of country folks.
Almost from the beginning of recorded time, a rob (a juice thickened by heat) has been made from the juice of elderberries and sugar. (Add a little cinnamon to the warm drink for energy and circulation.)
Elderberry wine has a reputed power as a curative remedy when taken hot at night. It is said to promote perspiration and thus acts to cure the common cold and flu. Elderberry wine is one of the best preventatives against influenza and the effects of a chill. It is also reputed to be an excellent remedy for asthma.
The viburnic acid in elderberries, which helps to purify and detoxify, is especially useful in cases of bronchitis and similar illnesses. One or two tablespoons in a glass of hot water taken at night is a demulcent (soothing substance) for the chest.Researchers in Israel have identified two compounds in the elderberry that act against flu viruses. A patented Israeli drug that contains the elderberry (Sambucol ) was shown to relieve fever, muscle aches, and other symptoms within 24 to 72 hours. Sambucol stimulates the immune system and has been shown somewhat active (PLEASE NOTE -- suggest rewording Has been shown somewhat active. Unclear) in preliminary trials against other viruses such as Epstein-Barr (chronic fatigue), herpes, and even HIV. (Again, be sure to cite this research.)
John Evelyn, writing in praise of the elder, declared every part of it was medicinal and there was not an ailment it couldnt cure. It is used internally and externally, in every form in rob and syrup, tincture, mixture, oil, spirit, water lineament, extract, salt, conserve, vinegar, sugar, decoction, bath, cataplasm and powder. In his writing, Evelyn accounts for 70 or more distinct diseases that this universal remedy will cure.
In 1644, a book entirely devoted to the praise of the elder, The Anatoie (PLEASE NOTE: could not confirm name of book) of the Elder, speaks of the medicinal virtues of every part of the elder tree including the flowers, bark, berries and Jews Ear (a fungus found on the elder).
The berrys chemical constituents are odorous oil, viburnic acid, tyrosine, malates of potassium and calcium. Tyrosine -- an amino acid used for treating anxiety, depression, allergies, and headaches -- aids in the function of the adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands. It is also a mood elevator, suppresses appetite and reduces body fat.
Studies have shown that the elderberry contains antiviral properties, meaning it helps to support the immune system. Elderberries contain pantothenic acid, which is called the anti-stress vitamin. We know that stress can bring on all kinds of maladies, and that a strong immune system is needed to support against stress.
Pep Berry Rob Nectar is a mixture of immune-system-enhancing herbs in a base of honey and raspberry. Along with elderberry and Echinacea are rosehips, an herb which is also a fruit. Rosehips are high in vitamin C and flavonoids. Flavonoids are needed for the proper assimilation of vitamin C into the body, and are known to help boost the immune system. Astragalus is an herb which European studies suggest has the same immune-boosting ingredients as Echinacea, is a tonic herb that aids adrenal function, increases metabolism, and provides energy to combat fatigue. Sarsaparilla is a tonic herb for stress with zinc, vitamins A and D, iron, copper, and sulfur. It regulates hormones and increases energy. Ginseng is an anti-stress herb used to promote energy, support immune function, and balance hormones. Licorice root provides B-itamins necessary to support stress, immune functions, and energy.
Pep Berry Rob Nectar is a great energy and immune booster, and if used when you feel your system taking a dip, may help fight off colds and flu. In times of stress, boost the immune system with Pep Berry Rob. Dont forget to also eat healthfully, exercise, and rest. A long and healthy life comes from healthy living.
Enjoy in good health!
