All Things Connected: The Science of Natural Health

The apex of the science of natural health is summarized the following statement, “all healing comes from within and the body will then heal itself.”  Balance, meaning moderation in all things, reflects a healthy connection of body, mind and spirit.  This inner state of balance can only be achieved when we fully understand the nature of our imbalances on all levels.  We are then willing to surrender to a deeper understanding of what it takes to implement positive changes in our lives.  There is no quick remedy without acknowledging the condition of imbalance on all levels.  Strong allopathic drugs (Western medicine), as well as natural remedies, may be inappropriate if not combined with a good healing attitude.

It is essential to realize that every imbalance has a positive effect.  Imbalances provide a locus point for uncovering all the negative energies we have cultivated.  Through conscious awareness we learn the lessons of life, and this will lead us back to a natural state of balance, where true health exists.

We often look at poor diet, lack of exercise and self-neglect as the causative factors in poor health and energy imbalance.  However, these are actually a reflection of our own inability to treat the underlying cause, rather than our capacity to return ourselves to a state of healthy balance.  We then can implement lifestyle changes that naturally work to rebuild the body-mind with proper diet, rest, exercise, stress management, water and herbs.

Mastering the Body-Mind

Most of my clients come to me with issues of depression, anxiety, fear, lack of purpose and meaning to their lives, loneliness and a desire to lose weight and learn to mange their lives.  Most come to me as a result of taking my yoga classes, which are very spiritual in nature.  What I consistently hear is that students feel lost and confused and that they want to get more in touch with their spiritual side.  There is an imbalance to their lives and this imbalance is causing unhappiness.  He source of the unhappiness is usually perceived to be weight issues, love issues, parental issue and a lack of self confidence and self esteem.  The latter two are what we focus on in our work together.  Lack of self confidence is an inability to have trust in oneself.  Lack of self esteem is an inability to value oneself.  Without value and trust, the self gets lost in the illusion of misery and unhappiness. Value and trust turn all of life's experiences into an opportunity to grow and achieve.

This brings us back to the apex of natural health.  What we honor and elevate (think and do) is what we become.  Health is a state of mind.  Even if the body gets tired and weak beyond repair, the self is still strong.  Knowing this we realize that wherever life takes us, we take with us the energy and attitudes from within.  Once you realize your ability to exercise free will over your life and implement an active response to your choices, you will learn to create whatever you desire.   You will be bathed in the faith and belief that there is no right or wrong choices in life.  This takes confidence and esteem (trust and value).  It also means you understand the fundamental aspect of wisdom, which is that much of life is uncertain and unpredictable;  however you remain grounded in faith and acceptance, embracing the beauty of life as it unfolds.

What is the secret to living a full and meaningful life? Flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and relaxation, letting go, acceptance.
